A Job That Sticks With Us
Last fall, a homeowner here in Central Illinois called us about a smart thermostat. They'd bought a nice one—good brand, great features—and tried to install it themselves. Followed the instructions, watched the videos, did everything right. But it wouldn't work.
Turns out their older home didn't have a C-wire, which that thermostat needed for consistent power. Without it, the thermostat would work for a while, then lose connection, then drain the battery trying to compensate. Frustrating. And not something the instructions really explained.
We ran a C-wire from their furnace, got the thermostat wired correctly, configured the app, and walked them through how to use the scheduling features. Took a couple hours. Now it works exactly like it's supposed to—and they're actually seeing the energy savings they bought it for in the first place.
