My Guys Home Services

We've all been there. You call a contractor and never hear back. You schedule an appointment and they show up three hours late—or not at all. They start your job, disappear for a week, then show up randomly without warning. You have questions, but good luck getting anyone on the phone. It's frustrating. And it's way too common in home services. People ask me all the time: what's it like to work with My Guys? The honest answer is, it's different. Not because we're doing anything revolutionary—we're just doing the basics that most contractors have stopped doing. Chris and I are personally involved in every job. Every phone call. Every inspection. Every installation. When you work with us, you're working with the owners. And that changes everything about how we treat your home and your time. Here's exactly what happens, step by step.

May 1st, 2025. That's the day I walked away from a steady paycheck with a national foundation repair company to go all-in on My Guys. Just me and Chris, a truck full of tools, and a commitment to do things differently than the big companies do them. This isn't one of those "how I quit my job and got rich" stories. We

Years ago, when I was working in HVAC, my mentor asked us a question I still think about. What keeps you going when the work gets hard? When you're in a 140-degree attic in July, or crawling through a freezing crawl space in January, or it's 10 PM and you're still not done—what's your why? At the time, I didn't have a good answer. I was just trying to make a living, figure things out, find my way after losing everything in my previous business. But that question stuck with me. And eventually, I found my answer. It's the reason Chris and I started My Guys. It's why we work the way we do. And it's what I want to share with you today—because the "why" behind your contractor actually matters more than you might think.

Most homeowners have never been in their crawl space. Some don't even know where the entrance is. And honestly, there's no reason you should—until something goes wrong. That's when it gets stressful. Someone tells you there's moisture down there, or your floors are sagging, or you've got a musty smell that won't go away. Now you're supposed to make a decision about something you've never seen and don't understand. That puts you in a tough spot. How do you know what actually needs to be done? How do you know if you're being told the truth or just being sold the biggest package? That's exactly why our process is built around helping you understand first. Because you shouldn't have to just trust us blindly. You should be able to make an informed decision you actually feel good about.

Here's how most crawl space companies work: they show up, spend maybe 20 minutes under your house with a flashlight, come back up, and hand you a proposal with a big number on it. Maybe they explain a little. Maybe they don't. Either way, you're supposed to just say yes and trust them. And you're left sitting there thinking, "Do I actually need all this? Are they being honest with me? What am I even paying for?" We do things differently at My Guys. Before I even look at your crawl space, we sit down and talk. About what you're seeing, what you're worried about, and what you're actually trying to solve. Because if I don't understand your real problem, I can't give you a real solution. And you shouldn't have to make a big decision based on a 20-minute inspection and a handshake.

I got a call from a realtor friend recently. She'd already had floor supports installed under an investment property here in Mahomet.
