The spray foam on the rim joists had already been completed by a previous contractor on this one, so we didn't need to redo it. We work with what's there.
One thing worth mentioning: the walls on this job came out a little wrinkly. That happens when spray foam has already been applied directly to the walls—it creates an uneven surface. We got it as smooth as possible. That's just the reality of working in real conditions sometimes, and we're not going to pretend otherwise.
Why We Didn't Replace the Sump Pump
Here's something that doesn't get talked about enough in this industry.
When we got down into this crawl space, the sump pump had come apart. It also didn't have a check valve installed. For a lot of companies, that's an easy conversation: "You need a new sump pump." Write it up, add it to the invoice, move on.
We didn't do that.
