Here's Exactly What Happens When You Hire My Guys

No Surprises, No Runaround, No Disappearing Acts

We've all been there. You call a contractor and never hear back. You schedule an appointment and they show up three hours late—or not at all. They start your job, disappear for a week, then show up randomly without warning. You have questions, but good luck getting anyone on the phone.

It's frustrating. And it's way too common in home services.

People ask me all the time: what's it like to work with My Guys? The honest answer is, it's different. Not because we're doing anything revolutionary—we're just doing the basics that most contractors have stopped doing.

Chris and I are personally involved in every job. Every phone call. Every inspection. Every installation. When you work with us, you're working with the owners. And that changes everything about how we treat your home and your time.

Here's exactly what happens, step by step.

First Contact: We Actually Answer

When you reach out to us—whether that's a phone call, text message, Facebook message, or email—our goal is to respond immediately. Sometimes it's within minutes. Sometimes it's within a few hours if we're in a crawl space or on a ladder. But we will get back to you the same day, using whatever method you contacted us through.

And here's the thing: it's Chris or me answering. Not a call center. Not a receptionist reading from a script. Us.

We'll keep trying to reach you until we connect because we know you reached out for a reason. Maybe your crawl space smells musty. Maybe your floors are sagging. Maybe a home inspector flagged something and you need answers. Whatever it is, we want to help.

We'll ask some initial questions to understand your situation. Then if an inspection makes sense, we'll get that scheduled for a time that works for you.

If we can't handle a simple phone call or text message, why would you trust us with your crawl space? Communication starts from the first contact, not after you've signed a contract.

Scheduling Your Inspection

Once we've talked and an inspection makes sense, we'll find a time that works for your schedule. Not just ours—yours.

You'll get a digital booking confirmation so it's on the calendar. Then we'll call you the day before to confirm the appointment. When we're on our way, you'll get another notification so you know we're coming.

And we show up on time. Unless something happens—truck breaks down, previous job runs into a major issue—we're there when we say we'll be there. And if something does change, we'll call you immediately to reschedule.

We expect the same respect from you. If your schedule changes, just let us know. We're not trying to lock you into some rigid system. We're trying to work together.

No pressure. No rushed timelines. Just finding a time that works for both of us.

The Day of Inspection: What Actually Happens

When Chris or I arrive at your house, we come prepared. Tools, equipment, everything we need to do a thorough inspection. We'll have shoe covers and drop cloths to protect your home.

First thing we do is sit down and talk. We need to understand what's going on. What are you concerned about? What are your goals for the space? Who else needs to be involved in any decisions? Maybe it's a spouse, maybe it's a parent you're helping out—we want to make sure everyone's concerns are heard.

Then we get into the crawl space. And we don't just peek around and take a couple photos. We inspect every nook and cranny. The floor framing system. Your HVAC ducts. Your plumbing. Your electrical. Any signs of water intrusion. Any fungal growth or moisture issues. Anything at all that might affect the health or safety of your home.

We document everything with video. You can watch that later, or we're getting close to being able to stream it live—hook up a laptop to your wifi and watch as we move through the crawl space in real time.

This takes time. It's not a 20-minute walkthrough. We're doing a legitimate inspection because we need to understand what's actually happening under your house, not just treat the symptom you called us about.

A lot of times, the issue you noticed—musty smell, soft floors, whatever—is just a symptom of a bigger problem. We want to get to the root cause so we can solve it properly.

The Proposal: No Surprises

After the inspection, I'll take some time to go over my notes and put together a proposal. And you'll get that the same day, before we leave.

We'll sit down again and I'll walk you through everything we found. Not just "here's a number"—I mean actually explaining our findings, showing you the video and photos, helping you understand what's going on under your home.

Then I'll go through each recommendation and explain why I'm suggesting it. You'll see the breakdown of what each solution costs and what it does. No surprises. No buried fees. No "oh by the way, we also need to do this" after you've already agreed.

If you have questions, we'll answer them. If someone else needs to be part of the decision, we'll get them on the phone or send them the information. If you need time to think about it, that's completely fine. We're not going to pressure you.

And if you need to prioritize or phase the work because of budget, we can work with that. Our job is to give you all the information you need to make the best decision for your home and your situation.

Some companies use high-pressure sales tactics. "This price is only good today." "We have a crew available tomorrow but they're booked after that." That's not how we operate. We give you the information, answer your questions, and let you decide when you're ready.

Installation: We Start and We Finish

If you decide to move forward, we'll get you on the schedule. Typically we're booking about three to five weeks out, depending on the season. But it's a hard scheduled date—it's on the calendar, and we'll be there.

When we show up to start your job, we're not leaving until it's completely finished to your 100% satisfaction.

We don't work on your house for a day, then disappear for a week to work on three other jobs, then maybe come back when we feel like it. If it's a single-day job, we start that morning and finish that day. If it's a multi-day job, we're there consecutive days until it's done.

Chris or I will be on site throughout the process. We'll protect your home with shoe covers and drop cloths. We'll communicate with you about what's happening. And we'll make sure the work is done right.

When we're finished, we'll do another video walkthrough showing you everything we completed. You chose these specific solutions—we'll show you that we performed them correctly. And you're more than welcome to get down in the crawl space with us if you want to see it yourself.

At that point, it won't be a dark, creepy space anymore. It'll be clean, bright, and properly lit. You'll actually be able to see what we did.

After the Job: We Come Back

Before we leave, we'll schedule two follow-up visits: one at six months and one at one year. Both are included—no additional charge.

These aren't sales calls. We're not coming back to find more work or upsell you on something else. We're coming back to make sure the work we did is still performing the way it should be.

We'll check the vapor barrier, the dehumidifier if we installed one, the drainage system, whatever solutions we put in place. We want to confirm everything is working properly and your crawl space is staying dry and healthy.

A lot of companies offer a warranty, but you have to remember to call them if something goes wrong. We schedule these visits upfront so nothing gets forgotten. It's our way of standing behind our work and making sure you get the long-term results you paid for.

If we didn't believe in the quality of what we install, we wouldn't be volunteering to come back and inspect it.

May 1st, 2025. That's the day I walked away from a steady paycheck with a national foundation repair company to go all-in on My Guys. Just me and Chris, a truck full of tools, and a commitment to do things differently than the big companies do them. This isn't one of those "how I quit my job and got rich" stories. We

Years ago, when I was working in HVAC, my mentor asked us a question I still think about. What keeps you going when the work gets hard? When you're in a 140-degree attic in July, or crawling through a freezing crawl space in January, or it's 10 PM and you're still not done—what's your why? At the time, I didn't have a good answer. I was just trying to make a living, figure things out, find my way after losing everything in my previous business. But that question stuck with me. And eventually, I found my answer. It's the reason Chris and I started My Guys. It's why we work the way we do. And it's what I want to share with you today—because the "why" behind your contractor actually matters more than you might think.
